GWENDOLYN JONES GAY, age 59, of Eastman, GA, died Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Dodge County Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:30PM Sunday, December 29, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Robbie Jones officiating, with interment in Cedar Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Gwen was born in Opelika, AL, of the Baptist faith, and a former parenting consultant. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed crafts, trips to the mountains, watching soap operas on television and was an Auburn football fan. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Ruth Waller Lewis, and Husband, Charles Craig Gay. Survivors: 2 Sons – William Buddy Smith (Christine) of Birmingham, AL and Slae Gay of Eastman; 3 Grandchildren – Kaydence Smith, Greyson Smith, and Hunter Smith, all of Birmingham, AL; Father – Cecil Jones (Syble) of Opelika, AL; Step-Father – Clinton Lewis (Debra) of Eastman; Sister – Kandy Wheeles (Jeff) of Opelika, AL; 5 Brothers – Jerry Lewis (Lisa), David Lewis, Dusty Lewis, all of Eastman, Keith Ledbetter, and Kenneth Jones (Sara), both of Opelika, AL; Parents-In-Law – Billie and Charles Gay of Eastman; Numerous Nieces and Nephews. The family may be contacted at the Gay residence, 560 Granny Branch Rd., Eastman, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 1:30PM-2:30PM Sunday, December 29.
