MR. BILLY ROGER SMITH, age 78, of Eastman, GA, died Thursday, December 5, 2019 at the Dodge County Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, December 8, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Greg Lowery officiating, with interment in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Billy was a native of Cadwell, a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, and a retired painter for Blue Bird for over 20 years. He was a former employee of the Eastman Cotton Mill, Rentz Cabinet Company, Horne’s Welding, Harvey’s, and Piggly-Wiggly. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and Pee-Paw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Billy loved tinkering and painting on cars, fishing, eating, drinking his coffee, and spending time with his Brother-in-Law, Edward. He was son of the late Sallie Mae Turner Smith and Dock Francis Smith, and was preceded in death by his Step-Mother, Bessie Fordham Smith, Son, Terry Gilliam, Granddaughter, Paula Nicole Gilliam, and 3 Siblings, Gloria Smith Gani, Skip Smith, and Essie Mathis Newsom. Survivors: Wife; Daughter; Son; 7 Grandchildren; 5 Great-Grandchildren; 3 Sisters; Brother-in-Law; Several Nieces and Nephews. The family may be contacted at the Smith residence and will receive friends in Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home from 6:00PM-8:00PM Saturday, December 7.
