Obituary

MRS. DOROTHY PAULINE WEEKS McCRANIE, age 100, of Eastman, GA, died Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Heart of Georgia Nursing Home. Graveside services will be held at 4:00PM Friday, October 16, at Woodlawn Cemetery, with Mr. Murray Kitchens officiating. Mrs. McCranie was a lifelong resident of Dodge County, a dedicated member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and a 1938 graduate and valedictorian of Hendrix High School, where she excelled in basketball. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a dedicated homemaker, and enjoyed reading the Bible, singing, and cooking. She lived a good and happy life, made a happy home, and lived life well. Pauline was the daughter of the late Irene Lowery Weeks and O.R. Weeks, and was preceded in death by her Husband of 60 years, J.D. McCranie, Daughter, Janice M. Merriman, Grandson, Jamieson Chad McCranie, and 4 Siblings, Drexel Weeks, Lucille Mullis, Floy Mae Dasher, and Sherrill Weeks. She is survived by her Son – J. Don McCranie (Peggy) of Eastman; Son-in-law – James Merriman of Lilburn; 3 Grandchildren – Joy Nicole Shiver of Atlanta, Julie M. Rowland (Blake) of Eastman, and Jess McCranie (Renee) of Warner Robins; 2 Great-Grandsons – Macky Rowland and Charlie McCranie; Brother – Buford Weeks of Macon; Numerous Nieces and Nephews. The family may be contacted at the McCranie homeplace, 1442 Cofield Rd., Eastman. Mrs. McCranie will lie-in-state at Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home from 11:00AM-4:00PM Thursday, October 15 and 9:00AM-3:00PM Friday, October 16.
