MR. JAMES LUTHER “SONNY” BOUTWELL, age 86, of Eastman, GA, died Monday, August 15, 2022, at his residence. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00PM Thursday, August 18, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Dwaine Dunn and Mr. Robert “Bob” Boutwell officiating, with interment in Poplar Springs Cemetery. Sonny was a lifelong resident of Dodge County and a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He learned the plumbing trade in his early 20s from his brother, Bob, and worked with him for over 15 years. He later became a licensed plumber and electricians and started his own plumbing and electrical business and worked for over 35 years in and Dodge and the surrounding areas. He enjoyed fishing, working, being outdoors, and tinkering. He was a dedicated husband, and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Sonny was the son of the late Susie Bowen Boutwell and George Washington Boutwell and was preceded in death by his Wife, Judy Grubbs Boutwell, and 6 Siblings, Theril Boutwell, Florney Boutwell, Frank Boutwell, Bob Burdick, Vesta Jarmusick, and Betty Boutwell Zibel. He is survived by his 4 Daughters – Debbie Boutwell Johnson, Donna Boutwell Gay, Denise Boutwell Pittman, all of Eastman, and Diane Boutwell Harrell (Larry), of Abbeville; 2 Step-Sons – Tony Winborn of Warner Robins and James Winborn of Milan; 16 Grandchildren; Several Great-Grandchildren; Sister – Chapelene Vastacus of Macon; Numerous Nieces and Nephews. The family will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 1:00PM-2:00PM Thursday, August 18. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to Poplar Springs Baptist Church, 836 Poplar Springs Church Rd, Eastman, GA 31023.
