Obituary

MR. CURTIS CLAUDE MCCRANIE, age 82, of Eastman, GA, died Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Dodge County Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Thursday, October 20, at Vilula Baptist Church, with Rev. Tim Brown and Mr. Bobby Ryals officiating, with interment in Vilula Baptist Church Cemetery. Curtis was born in Eastman, a lifelong resident of Dodge County, and a member of Vilula Baptist Church. He was a 1958 graduate of Dodge County High School and later graduated from Middle Georgia College with his Associates degree and the University of Georgia with his Bachelor’s degree in accounting. He was a retired civil service employee for Robins AFB, a lifelong farmer, and worked as an accountant for many years. Several years later, he built and enjoyed the McCranie Lodge, which was a gathering place for many weddings, reunions, and events for family and friends. He was a dedicated son and a loving brother and uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Curtis served for many years as a Lieutenant in the Georgia National Guard and as a Captain in the Air Force Reserve. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors and also enjoyed traveling and went on many trips over the years. Curtis was the son of the late Geneva Burnham McCranie and Andrew H. McCranie and was preceded in death by a Brother, Waymon A. McCranie and a Nephew, Waylon Cadwell. He is survived by his Sister; 2 Brothers; Sister-in-law; Nieces and Nephews; Several Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews; Numerous Cousins and Friends. The family may be contacted at the residence and will receive friends in Vilula Baptist Church from 2:00PM-3:00PM, Thursday October 20. In addition to flowers, contributions may be made to Vilula Baptist Church, Eastman, GA.
