Obituary

With great joy, MeMa Myrt Lowery went to stand in the presence of her God and Savior on Thursday, December 28th, 2023. Services celebrating her life will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, December 31, at Milan Baptist Church, with Rev. Aubrey Corbitt officiating, and interment at Sand Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Milan, GA. Myrtice Lucinda Walker Lowery was born in Milan, Georgia on August 16th, 1928, to the late George Walker and Georgia Mae Parker Walker. She was a lifelong resident of Dodge County and a 1946 graduate of Milan High School. God entrusted her with gifts of service and affection for children. She earned an associate degree in education from Middle Georgia College and taught kindergarten at West Telfair Academy. She later opened her home as a childcare center, where she loved and taught many children over the years. She was a dedicated member of Milan Baptist church and believed in the importance of Vacation Bible School and discipling children. Her legacy is the love she showed to those who were privileged to know her. Myrt was preceded in death by her loving husband, Emmitt Tillman Lowery, Sr., grandson, Ross Lowery, and siblings, George Walker, Jr., Homer Walker, Ollis Walker, Wilson Walker, Thelma Walker Allsbrook, and Mildred Walker Taylor. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. The family may be contacted at the residence and will receive friends in Milan Baptist Church from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM Sunday, December 31.
