Obituary

Sarah Mae Sheppard Molton, fondly remembered as "Sweetie Pie" age 88 of McRae died Saturday March 21, 2020 at Dodge County Hospital surrounded by family. Graveside Services will be 4:00 pm Monday March 23, 2020 at Zion Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Aubrey Corbett officiating . Sarah Mae was born October 17, 1931 in rural Telfair County Ga. to the late Charlie H. and Bessie Mae Brantley Sheppard. She grew up in tough time on the farm, picking cotton, and learning to cook from her mother, because of her love for cooking she had a dream come true when she became manger and later owner of the former Plantation Restaurant in McRae for over 12 years. She loved seeing families share meals around her table. She was a woman of great faith and served the Helena Baptist Church for many years as a Sunday school teacher, choir member and chairperson of the Senior Adult Group. Survivors include her children, sixteen grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren, one daughter in law and one sister in law. In addition to her parents Sarah Mae was preceded in death by her first husband Raymond M. Jones, her second husband Thomas Reid Molton, one son Larry Joe Jones, two brothers, Charlie B Sheppard and J. E. Sheppard, one sister Myrtice Hinson and one great great grandson, Barrett A. Davis
