Obituary

RANDY LAMAR BLANKENSHIP, age 67, passed away peacefully at his home in Eastman, Georgia on Sunday, May 17, 2020. Randy was born in Eastman, where he was raised until the age of 13, at which point he moved to Atlanta with his family. He began working for the City of Atlanta / Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport at the age of 18 where he spent nearly 30 years before retiring. Mr. Blankenship was a man who lived life in all its fullness. There was never a dull moment in his presence and he would light up the room with his laughter and great sense of humor. He was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan who never missed a game. He loved music of all kinds, but admired Elvis Presley most of all, and would sing you an Elvis tune at the drop of a hat…whether you liked it or not. He also enjoyed fishing, working in the yard, computer tech and more than anything quality time spent with family, especially his wife Tawana. Randy was the son of the late Madeline Parkerson Blankenship and Ralph Wilbur Blankenship, widower of Tawana Giddens Blankenship, and was preceded in death by his sister, Vickie Blankenship Patterson. He is survived by his four children and four grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. A celebration of Randy’s life will be held at a later date to be determined by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to the Shriner’s Children Hospital.
